Overview

An inevitable companion of a parent who is willing to do everything in their power to find their son and a kid who remembers everything about him

Three years ago on a Fireworks Festival, Ye Won had lost her son Sunwoo. In such despair, she could not forgive herself and was eventually hospitalized. There she discovers a kid named Ro Un, differently singing to a children’s song but exactly the same way as Sunwoo does. Out of an impulsive action, she takes Ro Un with her when going back home. Ye Won’s husband Seon Jun expresses that Ro Un is not Sunwoo and tries to take him back to the hospital. Just then Ro Un mentions about a prayer house in Geum Pyeong where he had met Sunwoo. Thinking that this is the last chance to find Sunwoo, Ye Won and Seon Jun head towards to the prayer house that Ro Un mentioned only to find out that nobody really knows about such place.

《Day of Salvation》, shows the collapsing of a family after the disappearance of their child and accompany of a child who lacks affectionate attention from others. Through their relationship, the author tries to point out the problem in Korean society about how parenting is perceived as an individual share and the lack of the minimum social safety net. Also to warn the public about how they easily criticize the parent in the justification of trying to protect the child. At the same time, the confrontation between closed pseudo-organizations creates a sense of tension. The author while writing this book, had tried to imagine a situation where the storyline can be crueler just by being a family. The main characters of 《Day of Salvation》 also have their own reasons to hurt others but eventually forgives each other to redeem and rebuild their everyday life. The message behind the author’s book show the readers what a touching masterpiece this is since there can be times when you can’t spare a minute to look around, or to lose a help from the others because of a bad timing. However if you are truthful and courageous enough, you can always get back to those who have helped you before.
