About the Author

Shim Sangyong

Shim Sangyong was born in 1961. He graduated from the Painting Department of Seoul National University College of Fine Arts and the same graduate school. In 1989, he moved to France and earned the master's degree and D.E.A. in the plastic arts at the University of Paris 8 Vincennes-Saint-Denis and a doctoral degree in art history at the University of Paris 1 Pantheon-Sorbonne. He has written more than seven art books and is currently a professor at the Sculpture Department of Seoul National University College of Fine Arts.

 

Kathleen E. Kim

A New York State lawyer, works as an art law expert in the global art field. Author teaches art law, entertainment law, and intellectual property law as an adjunct professor at Hongik University, and is active as a legal consultant at the Korea Artist Welfare Foundation under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, a cooperative director of the Seoul Culture and Citizens' Urban Policy Committee, an auditor of the Korea Arts Management Association, and a public institution in London. It has carried out various research projects and art law education programs in the field of cultural and artistic projects and intellectual property promoted by the government, and is writing articles on legal and institutional issues of the cultural and artistic ecosystem in the media and journals. Recently, scientific and technological innovation such as AI and NFT has been interested in the changes that bring to the art environment. After completing her doctorate in law at Temple University Law School in the U.S., she studied the "Art History and Art Market" course at Christie's Graduate School in New York, a global auction company.

 

Jung Hyun

Jung Hyun is an associate professor of the Department of Formative Arts at Inha University, an art critic, and a curator. From a de-colonial point of view, he published a doctoral thesis on the identity of an artist. Critical writing is regarded as a practice of learning, and it is expanding into a method of writing, education, and exhibition planning. The activities of the non-profit art organization It Itza Social Cooperative can also be seen as a way of this practice.
